Meet Your Mentorologist Team
Isaac L. Bermudez, BCBA
Isaac Bermudez is the Vice President of Brett DiNovi & Associates California and has been providing services in applied behavior analysis since 1998. He received his graduate degree from the California State University, Los Angeles in Psychology with a specialization in Behavior Analysis. In 2005, he became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and in the same year was awarded the Julie Vargas Award for student research at the California Association for Behavior Analysis annual conference.
Isaac has worked for several providers in Southern California and and has been in executive leadership for the past 15 years. During that time Isaac has held positions such as Clinical Director, Director of Clinical Operations, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Behavior Analyst, Executive Director, and most recently Vice President. Isaac’s focus is on developing and growing healthy ABA practices and works closely with the clinical and administrative teams to create and implement systems to provide quality ABA services to individuals of all ages and various diagnoses.
Isaac is qualified to provide ABA services in all environments including schools, homes and communities. In addition, Isaac stays active in the field by conducting workshops, symposiums, and being a presenter at state, national, and international conferences on topics such as school support and consultation, behavior phenotypes, behavior intervention plans, mentorship, performance management, mentorship and more.
He has co-authored several articles for the Association for Professional Behavior Analyst (APBA) monthly newsletter on issues related to functional assessments and technology for behavior analysts. Most recently Isaac co-authored a chapter in an upcoming cultural diversity texbook for behavior analysts. Isaac’s professional philosophy is to support and build a healthy ABA practice by creating the systems to passionately support its staff so they are in the best position to deliver the highest quality of services possible. Isaac’s primary aim is to help client’s achieve social significant outcomes towards a more independent life.
Nickie Lau Bermudez, BCBA
Nickie Lau M.S., BCBA has worked at Autism Behavior Consultants since 2002 after graduating from University of California, Los Angeles, where she majored in Sociology. Her interest in the field of ABA began in 2001 when she attended a behavior modification course taught by Dr. Ivar Lovaas. Nickie was later accepted into the Applied Behavior Analysis program at California State University, Los Angeles, where she received her Master of Science in Counseling under the mentorship of Dr. Michele D. Wallace, Dr. Randy V. Campbell, and Dr. Henry Schlinger.
Currently, Nickie is the Regional Director of Los Angeles, predominantly covering the San Gabriel, South Bay, and Long Beach areas. As the Regional Director, she works closely with the Executive Clinical Director on programs to increase organization health through business and clinical operations management. Some of her other responsibilities include providing mentorship and on-going training to BCBAs, BCBA supervisees, as well as those who are seeking to enter Masters programs.
Nickie continues to avidly attend ABA conferences and webinars to remain updated with research and trends in the field. She has presented at the California Association for Behavior Analysis (CalABA) conferences on topics of training, supervision dilemmas, and compassionate care. She maintains active memberships at different professional associations including CalABA, ABAI, APBA, CCBA, and CASP. She has held the volunteer position of Public Policy Chair on the Board of Directors at the California Consortium of Behavior Analysts (CCBA) since 2015 and has recently transitioned to the Marketing Chair. Additionally, she volunteers her time with the Latino Association for Behavior Analysis (LABA) to support their mission of disseminating evidence-based practices to both students and practitioners.
Debra Ruff, MS, PPS, BCBA
Debbie Ruff has been working with individuals with disabilities and developmental delays since 2006 and has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) since 2011. She completed her undergraduate coursework from California State University, Bakersfield with a B.A. of Psychology and continued to complete her M.S. in School Psychology at National University. After earning her master's degree, Debbie immediately continued her studies by completing the required coursework, accruing hours, and passing the exam to become a BCBA .
She has extensive experience working with the early start populations, conducting intake and ongoing assessments, and mentoring staff. Debbie has also created content for various training in topics including supervision, behavior intervention plans, standardized assessments, and early intervention. Debbie joined the team at Brett DiNovi & Associates in the spring of 2021 and created the early start program from the ground up. In addition to running the early start program, Debbie works with Mentorologist on vetting monthly speakers.
Debbie has a special interest in Organizational Management and completed the OBM Certificate through Florida tech in August of 2018 and has a passion for employee satisfaction. When Debbie is not working, she enjoys spending time with her two children and judges diving for the US Diving Association. Debbie will begin a 2-year term as a subject matter expert for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board in January of 2023.
